Part of that may be the awful facts surrounding the actual massacre of the Donnelly family, but most of the fault with this book lies with the author who has chosen to re-tell the story of this brutal episode in Canadian history in a style that can only be described as trite and tedious. While the writing is good I understand that it's written for young adults and after re-listening to this audiobook I see how people who are listening to it now as adults and aren't biased towards it due to childhood memories may be disappointed with it. I remember in 2009 getting "Fell" as a Christmas gift, and buying "Fire Bringer" soon after. I fondly remember reading this in 2008 in middle school, I promptly devoured all the Clement-Davies books I could find. ![]() |
